The Emergence of the Universe
For equal participation in society it is imperative that every
person has self-determined access to knowledge, independent of
their functional and cognitive capabilities. To make that possible
most of the relevant contents would have to be reprocessed.
This book demonstrates an approach for this. It explains the
emergence of our Universe according to the big bang theory in
simple language, supported by illustrations. You can access the
different parts of the book - intro, story and lexicon - easily
through an index on the side of the book. These and further
adjustments facilitate the access to information.
The Emergence of Mankind
Inclusive Design means to break down barriers and thereby making a
product accessible to as many people as possible. The idea to
apply this approach to a nonfiction book emerged from the thought,
that self-determined access to basic knowledge should be a
condition for equal participation in society.
With this project a non-fiction book about the history of the
emergence of mankind was generated. It is supposed to work for
persons with bodily or mental limitations as well as for everybody
else. This is being achieved by a number of adjustments. Beginning
with the preparation of the content, the text, written in simple
language, the content and style of illustrations, to layout and
typographic focus and on to printing, paper selection and binding.
The most important text and imagery is being rendered tactile in
production.
